Teacher Appreciation Week II

Teacher Appreciation Week is now behind us, but the fun continued this week as I now had a gift card to Panera Bread. (Thank you mom! Wednesday I felt really appreciated!!)

Adalie has been asking to have a date with me. She loves the one-on-one interaction and needs a little "grown-up" time with mom every once in a while. So, we waved good-bye to sisters and headed out for lunch. We split a yummy sandwich and lemonade, and talked for a bit about school and the different sports, activities, lessons, etc. Adalie would like to participate in next year. Then we pulled out pen and paper and played a few hands of tic-tac-toe and the "Dot" game. When our food was gone, Adalie got a big smile on her face and asked, "Can we get a cookie?" We still had $.41 left on the card and some loose change in my purse so we headed back to the cashier.

With tummy's full, and a few chocolate crumbs on our faces, we headed to the library. (Previously requested by Adalie.) We found a zany chapter book, and for the next hour, cuddled on comfy chairs,we read together.

Something so simple, and yet so good! Teacher Appreciation Week definitely needs to become a tradition in the Himes' household!! :)

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week I was blessed by my mom. She gathered some goodies and let my girls know that Teacher Appreciation week was a comin'. She explained to them what it was and they joined in the excitement as every day she had a little treat for them to give. On Monday, Kylia came down with the orange note above and a package of M&M's. She was so excited! Her note was so sweet, and blessed me to know that she realized that teaching was hard work. (The M&M's were eaten that day and so not able to make it into the picture.)

On Tuesday, I received a package of chocolate cookies, a drawing from Zoie and this letter from Adalie. She made lunch later in the week and did a great job!
Wednesday brought a package of peanuts, and this note from my mom with a $10.00 gift card to Panera Bread. Yummy! My mom's note was perfect. Thursday and Friday were equally sweet. Mom, you blessed me this week in a wonderful way. Thank you for encouraging the girls to appreciate even the little things, and for bringing excitement into their week, as well as mine. I love you.

Just Sing!

This last week I was very emotional. This was hard for Seth to see because he loves my joy, and unfortunately, it went on vacation for a bit. So on Tuesday, he covered me in prayer. On Wednesday he loved me with his words. But still my joy did not return. By Friday he knew what he had to do. He purchased some worship music that I love and blasted it! After listening to it and singing along with it for quite some time, I thanked him. He responded with, "I just wanted to hear you sing."

Oh my husband, you melt my heart, you bring me joy, and I am so thankful for you.

p.s. My joy has returned! :)

Problem Solving at its Best

I asked my girls to go upstairs and clean the playroom this morning. About fifteen minutes after sending them up, I called them down to clean off the stairs. As they were coming down they informed me that they had bad attitudes upstairs. So, to remedy the problem, they put themselves in timeout, noses in the corner.
They came out of time out with happy hearts, and cleaned the room beautifully.

Girls you bring joy to my heart! Way to problem solve and overcome the grumps! You three are amazing!
